Wednesday, November 6th - Finish gluing in all papers. Thursday, November 7th - Read the Louis Armstrong summary and identify individual contributions and cultural impacts. Then read the NEWSELA article "The Harlem Renaissance" and take the quiz. Friday, November 8th - Finish Louis Armstrong option. Monday, November 11th - Read the Langston Hughes summary and identify individual contributions and cultural impacts. Then read the NEWSELA article "Authors: Langston Hughes" and take the quiz. Tuesday, November 12th - Finish Langston Hughes option. Wednesday, November 13th - Read the Babe Ruth summary and identify individual contributions and cultural impacts. Then read the NEWSELA article "Science Explains Babe Ruth's Homeruns" and take the quiz. Thursday, November 14th - Finish Babe Ruth option. Friday, November 15th - Read the Henry Ford summary and identify individual contributions and cultural impacts. Then read the NEWSELA article "Entrepreneurs: Henry Ford" and take the quiz. Monday, November 18th - Finish the Henry Ford option. Tuesday, November 19th - Read the Charles Lindbergh summary and identify individual contributions and cultural impacts. Then read the NEWSELA article "The Explorers: Amelia Earhart" and take the quiz. Wednesday, November 20th - Unit Test Thursday, November 21st - Finish the Charles Lindbergh option and turn in notebook. This due date will not be extended. Thomas Edison Cultural Impact: Allowed businesses to stay open later because of power distribution. This increase productivity and profit margins. Individual Contribution: He obtained 1,093 patents. That is the most ever obtained by one person. George Washington Carver Cultural Impact: Found ways for farmers to get more from their crops (crop rotation). This increased profits for farmers and is credited for saving the southern economy. Individual Contribution: He made more than 300 products from peanuts. If you are missing pages from your notebook, you need to make sure that you find the copies and glue them in. These notebooks are valuable study tools and should be kept up to date.
